The Diamond Valley Sports & Fitness Centre ran its Charity Netball Tournament once again this year and the funds raised for Headspace – Greensborough totaled nearly $4500 to help headspace continue to address a critical gap, by providing tailored and holistic mental health support to 12 – 25 year olds. With a focus on early intervention, they work with young people to provide support at a crucial time in their lives – to help get them back on track and strengthen their ability to manage their mental health in the future.
Mayor Karen Egan officially opened the event with a total of 16 teams playing as part of the tournament. To support this 13 umpires, 15 volunteers from DVSFC staff, local netballers, and headspace Greensborough staff, and 56 local community companies donated raffle prizes to support the event as well. Before the 120 participants kicked off headspace Greensborough gave everyone attending an indication of how their donations and money raised impacted the charity from last year’s event.
Councillor Grant Booker closed the event by presenting the Winner and Runner-ups with their medallions and we are looking forward to 2019 being even better than this year!
